He started his teaching career at Warner Pacific College in Oregon and finished his career teaching biomechanics and exercise science at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

He greatly enjoyed being a part of his children’s endeavors throughout his life and loved to tell anyone and everyone about his children’s accomplishments.

The family would like to thank Emerald Health for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. We would also like to offer a special thanks especially to Kerin Gohman for opening her whole heart and providing such wonderful care and support throughout the final years of his life. The family couldn’t have done it all without you! You provided all the support he needed (both physical and emotional) and he looked forward to seeing you every day.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC on September 7th 12:00 pm. Visitation with the family will follow the service.

His sons told me that they've made arrangements to have his ashes spread on the UW track.

Brian and I stayed in touch over the years. A good and loyal friend.

He was a great high school pole vaulter. We were vaulting teammates. He vaulted almost 15 feet as a senior. I vaulted11 feet. He never made fun of me. A good man, gone too soon.

I went to grade school and high school with Brian, then enjoyed talking with him at our high school reunions. I admire and respect how important family were to him.

Brian and I were Chi Psi fraternity brothers at Madison.  We had a great easly 20th c. castle overlooking the lake.  Very steep stairs took us down to our pier,  NOT a good idea after quaftiing a few of those beers that were always on tap.  How did we survive??
