Janie and I were lifelong friends. We both went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was the maid of honor in my wedding and our first son's godmother - an assignment she took very seriously! We kept in close touch as I continued my education, traveled and worked.  We spoke almost every Sunday.  The past few years had been difficult healthwise for Janie.  She handled her challenges with tenacity, humor and care for others. I had the honor of giving her Eulogy at the Memorial Service June 2 in Chicago. We met the first day of WFB High School.  It was a priviledge to know her for 54 years.
