Judy Magidson (Herman)

Judith Magidson Herman died May 20, 1975, of cancer. 

Judy graduated from the University of Chicago and the School of Social Work and Planning at the University of Maryland. She was coordinator of the American Jewish Committee’s National Project on Ethnic America and director of research and planning for the Institute on Pluralism and Group Identity.  She authored a book Housing for the other America: A fifty-state strategy.  
 
The two-day program, “a Consultation on Ethnicity and Social Welfare” is dedicated to the memory of Judith Magidson Herman, a 1967 graduate of the SSW/CP who died shortly after being named 1974 alumna of the year.

Judy, you were an absolutely amazing person. Your brilliant intellect was always dedicated to service to others. I'm not surprised that you majored in Social Work and dedicated your professional life to helping others less fortunate. I envisioned you as the first woman president!
